On Sunday, April 16, 2017, the Beckford family was struck by a horrific tragedy when their beloved 29-year old husband and dad, Damion Beckford became a helpless victim of a hit and run. Mr. Beckford was spending time with a few friends in Miami on Sunday, when around 2 a.m., he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street with his friends to head home.
The impact of the hit was so bad that Damion’s heart stopped beating at the scene and required intensive CPR en route to the hospital. Damion underwent major surgery through 8 p.m. that night. He lost a lot of blood through heavy hemorrhaging, sustained a fracture, broken bones, head injury, and experienced fluid buildup in his chest and tissues. Damion is in critical condition. The hospital bills have already begun to escalate and due to his condition, will continue to increase.
Damion is a hard-working, good citizen of his community who has impacted many lives. His laugh is contagious, his smile is warming and his drive, determination, and strength are relentless. His love for his family is unconditional and admirable. It is these qualities that we are hoping will give him the strength to pull through this tragedy. We are praying that God restores him fully and bring him back to his family, friends, colleagues and community. Most of all, we hope that the perpetrator is found quickly so that he or she does not affect another family in this horrific manner.
