Damien's Emergency Surgery Fund

Damien is our 7 year old Dachshund. He has been part of our family for 4 years now. He has been a major addition to the family after being rescued from a hoarding situation where he was found outside in the cold eating snow.  He enjoys hanging out with all of our friends and family.

Damien had a situation where he swallowed some fabric from underwear. It got stuck in his stomach and a large portion of his intestines. We were informed that it was unlikely he could pass it on his own. Even trying ran the risk of perforation of his intestines. If that were to happen the odds are high we could lose him. We had to go with emergency surgery. Sadly our only choice for this was an Emergency Vet and their costs are very high. We could not wait to see our vet the next day. We are looking at costs upwards of $4,500 or more. He was worth the decision to have the surgery.

His surgery was successful and he is recovering but the unexpected costs are tough. With Emergency Vets they want the total payment due at the discharge of Damien. That is extremely hard especially coming off of the holidays. I never thought I would ever do anything like this.
