In Loving Memory of Baby Dakota

How do I begin?

First, thank you for taking the time to be on this page, reading this story. You may never know how much it is appreciated.

For those of you who I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I am a friend and former colleague of Paige at the Four Seasons Hotel Concierge. And for those of you who Paige and Tommy have not yet had the pleasure of meeting,  Paige is my former colleague only because their sweetest dream finally came true!

As many of you may know, and may have even experienced yourself, concieving is not always as easy as it seems; it is never guaranteed. This seemingly devastating struggle was becoming real to Paige and Tommy as they tried for a couple of years. Finally, the fall of 2014 came and Paige and Tommy were elated to learn they were finally going to be parents! Their dream was coming true. Everyone in Paige and Tommy's world was so excited and so happy, words could not desribe it.

How special it was to watch Paige's belly grow bigger and bigger over the months. Baby didn't have a name yet, so at work our colleagues gave baby the nickname "Peanut!" and would talk to her, and feel Paige's belly when she kicked, and we used to imagine how beautiful she was going to be, with Paige's pretty blue eyes and Tommy's charming smile.

June 19, 2015 at 3:42pm, the Fields family was forever changed. Sweet baby Dakota Maggie Fields was born into the world, wide eyed and beautiful as could be!

As summer went on and turned into fall, baby Dakota was growing more beautiful by the day. She spent many days with Mommy and Daddy and her two pups, going on walks at the beach to catch the sunset, hiking, hanging out at her grandparents home in sunny East Bay, going on road trips to the magical Lake Tahoe and watching it snow for her first time. Just this Friday, November 20th, a day after Dakota turned 5 months old, she got to see the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge from the gem that is Kirby Cove. Paige posted some adorable photos from their day.

Just hours later, in the middle of the night on Saturday, November 21, 2015, Paige and Tommy's dream became the nightmare no parent should ever have to experience, as they woke to find Dakota had stopped breathing. Sweet baby Dakota had passed in her sleep. They say Sudden Infant Death Syndrome claims the lives of more than 2,500 infants in the United States each year.

One minute life is a dream, life is perfect.
The next minute, life is dark, sterile, cold; a nightmare.
This situation is just so unfathomable and cruel.

So much love and support surrounds Paige and Tommy during this dark, difficult time, as we all feel this devastation together. I know that many, many people are asking how they can help or what they can do. I thought this would be a good way for all of us to come together from near and far to help cover life for a while, so that Paige and Tommy can take some time to grieve. I put a large goal amount but whether we collect less or far exceed it, anything we reach is helpful. Any donation is helpful, and is more appreciated than you may ever know.

If you would like to send something directly to Paige and Tommy and don't have their address, please message me on Facebook.
