Daisy’s babies

Donation protected
In the first two years of her life, Daisy never knew  whether tomorrow would come. She never knew happiness, never knew what it felt like to be safe, to feel full, to feel affection, never knew any kindness from humans or other animals. Used as a bait dog in dog fighting circles, she was underfed, and bred too young. Her body was abused in every way, and she has the scars to show it.

Somehow, she managed to escape hell, and won the fur baby jackpot when Erin and Cassie found her. It took some time for Erin to coax her into the car; Daisy had never known humans to be trustworthy.

The wounds on her face and body told part of her story. The wounds on her heart tell the rest. Daisy is two years old, and has spent her two years as a bait dog for dogs who fight. She is riddled with scars and puncture wounds. She was fearful of humans, timid, shy, and terrified of men. When Erin found her, she had been eating dirt to keep her belly full, which led to a parasitic infection requiring medication.

Where most people would have given up on Daisy, Erin and Cassie saw hope, and potential. They decided that her care and rehabilitation is a work off heart that they are willing to invest in.

Because she lived her entire life outside in the elements and extreme temperatures, Daisy wasn’t potty trained. She is fearful of the outdoors (rightly so), and stairs. Leash training is an arduous but necessary process, as is socialization for someone who only understands what it is like to feel scared.

On top of all of these adjustments and medications, Daisy was successfully bred before she made her escape. This has been an unexpected turn of events. She will need more intensive care, postnatal care, and of course, the puppies will need care before they can find their forever homes.  These bills will add up quickly and were not something that Erin and Cassie has anticipated when budgeting for their new baby.

I would like to help them with vet bills, with food for Daisy both pre and post birth, and for initial care for the puppies. I hope that you can find it in your heart to help, if not through donations, at least by sharing.

Daisy needs to know that humans are here to help and love.
