Dagmara`s Fight with Cancer

Daga is 43 years old and a mother to a beautiful eight year old Julia. 
On August 2018 she was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 - Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (ACC). ACC is a rare tumor, with incidence of one to two per million population annually.  It originates in the cortex (steroid hormone-producing tissue) of the adrenal gland. The adrenal glands lie on top of the kidneys. They play an important role in the endocrine system, which is the system that produces and regulates hormones. 

In the last 12 months Daga developed episodes of severe and dangerous hypertension, with blood pressure as high as 225/115 to 120. She also had significant swelling in her face, arms and legs. Her potassium level was less then 2. Daga ended up in the emergency room for these issues many times, when finally CT revealed a left Adrenal Gland Mass AND multiple Bilateral Noncalcified lung nodules.

Daga ended up having  a seven hours surgery on 08/02/2018 to remove the tumor, left adrenal gland, and lymph nodes which was extremely complicated and dangerous. The diagnosis of the aggressive cancer followed.  She was in the hospital for two weeks recovering from the surgery. And is still recovering at home. She is stable but because the late stage of the diagnosis she needs aggressive and expensive Chemotherapy following with Immunotheraphy. In the meantime lung biopsy will be done to confirm the cancer has spread to lungs. 

Daga doesn't know when the day will come to go to eternal sleep, but the days are numbered, and she is happily living each moment as if it was her last.
