There was a moratorium on plan approvals that we were just informed about. Months of wondering why we couldn't get a permit. They have begun giving them out again but it has been a process for sure. We are soooooo close. The Contractor has the plans and is ready to go! We just need the county to give us the go ahead!
Bills are still needing to be paid! I need help.
Oh and you may have noticed the name change. Frustrating but was neccesary. Sorry for the confusion.
The mission behind it all has been moving forwad with great success. D.A.D. Presents has been helping break the stigma attached to mental illness. I've had some amazing conversations and learned alot. I see where this is headed and i'm excited about the journey we are on.
On August 1st 2017 I signed a lease agreement for 240 Dekalb Industrial Way 1 mile outside of Decatur Ga. near the Dekalb Farmers Market. The building and grounds were covered in kudzu. The inside had water damage and was pretty filthy. With the help of some vollunteers and lots of sweat and tears the place is looking alot better. I have learned alot over the last 9 months and am loving the process. Reading books, listening to podcasts, meeting with professionals and consultants, and many long nights either learning or working to pay bills to keep this dream alive and moving forward. Funding has been the most difficult thing I have encountered. I want to offer shows and coffee, and i want to continue producing DAD Presents videos. Mental Health Awareness is something that is very important. I believe if we can bust up the stigma attached to mental illness that we can save alot of lives! Every aspect of Dad's Coffee Bar will be aimed at positivly affecting the well being of all who walk thru those doors. The property offers some green space for quite reflection. The videos will benefit so many people suffering from a mental illness, and the music will bring our community together!
