Dad's Big Brain

Donation protected
On February 6, 2019 our Dad, Randy, was critically injured in a fall at work. His co-workers immediately realized the serious nature of his injury and prevented him from moving while they waited for EMS. Dad was transported to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, where he had an emergency craniectomy on the left side of his head to allow his brain to swell and a drain was placed in the back of his skull to collect blood pooling in the back of his brain. He is currently ventilated to allow his body to rest. On 2/8 the doctors began to wean sedation to assess his ability to respond to stimuli, and Dad's response is encouraging. He is able to respond to painful or annoying stimuli in all limbs but one right now. But his recovery will be long and difficult.

The beneficiary of this campaign is my sister Tiffany Taylor, Dad's youngest daughter. She was the first person contacted when Dad was hurt and has been by his side ever since. Her job has granted her a leave of absence with no pay, so I am asking for donations for Tiffany to help her help Dad.  Myself and his other children are there to see Dad frequently, but Tiffany has been able to be a continuous presence in his room, which will be so important for him emotionally from the time he opens his eyes until his journey to rehab. Money collected will cover Tiffany's living and travel expenses while Dad is still so fragile.

To my nursing friends, in lieu of money perhaps you can share with us a message of hope.

I will keep you all updated.
