Dad is a short film about a devoted husband and father named Emilio who agrees to have a vasectomy done. Before the procedure, he's met with the news that nothing needed to be changed; he's never been able to have kids.
What is the difference between a father and a dad?
The short film “Dad” forces the audience to ponder what they would do if they found themselves to be biologically unrelated to the child they raised. Other difficult situations arise in the film, bringing with them more questions designed to challenge the viewer's moral standing.
Principal Photography is done!
Dad took 4 days of filming and required over 50 talented people to come together and provide their skills and creativity to help bring Dad to life.
It was not easy
Filming Dad was a tough challenge for our director Joshua Ortiz and writer Valeri Wallace as they did all pre-production from two different states (Florida and Michigan). On the last day of filming, Josh's car was needed to film a crucial scene of the film and as he was headed to a thrift store to purchase a prop, he got into a car accident.
With some movie magic, we made it work!

We are turning to GoFundMe because we are raising funds to properly compensate our hard-working cast and crew (Our director and writer, have decided to receive no pay), create an original score, market the film and cover fees for all the top film festival submissions (Sundance deadline on September 14).
