Hancock-Cook Memorial Fund

Donation protected
I'm not really sure how to start this...I've never done one of these before, so if I ramble, please forgive me.

This is a double donation ~ memorial fund for two people, my mother, Cheryl Hancock Cook, and her little brother, my uncle, Allen Winfred Hancock Jr.

Our family suddenly lost the only older remaining family members in the span of thirty days. Cheryl passed away on February 16th of this year...Allen passed away exactly one month later on March 16th. These deaths have been a big shock to everyone who knew them and to myself and my two children.

I was Cheryl's only child and Allen had no children...as both of their next of kin, their arrangements and all final affairs have been mine to arrange and finalize. I don't mind...I knew what their final wishes were and I've followed them to every extent possible.

I'm creating this fund because there are so many things involved when a person dies (much less two) intestate that I know I never would've known about until I had to experience it first hand. You actually do have to go to court to establish some legal rights in order to talk to the IRS, Veterans Administration, landlords, title offices and various other people and institutions to put everything to rest...and no one is really sympathetic to your own personal plight. This has proven very difficult for me for multiple reasons. Not only did they live in separate cities, but I am a single mother trying to accomplish everything on my own. Some days I just cry.

I know establishing this fund for both of them may not sit well with some, but please, take time to look at the picture...for whatever may've happened in years past, they were brother and sister, and at times very close to one another. I firmly believe that death transcends all, and I hope you will too.

I'm not setting a goal here, because it seems as though every day something new arises, and until certain things can be accomplished, there are ongoing monthly expenses....Cheryl currently has a storage unit, it's about $160 a month and my 22 year old daughter has taken on that expense because, "that was her grandmother..."  but I'd really love to relieve her of this financial hardship....she's just a kid. Once Allen's rental house is cleared out, I'll  likely have to rent a another storage unit as until we can get everything sorted out.

Any donation would mean so much to us. There is NO pressure to donate, but every cent is very appreciated. I would like my Mother and Uncle to have their affairs handled properly, instead of someone auctioning off their belongings....with your donations we could make this happen. Again, thank you for any of the donations we do recieve. I know they're both happy and pain free now. Godspeed to them both.

Thank you and bless you all for your kind words, sympathy and understanding.

First John 3:17 “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”

These are Cheryl's grandchildren and Allen's great-niece and nephew.
