Its not fair

Never in 10,000 years would ever think I would use the "C" word.  However, last week my wife of 24 years was diagnosed with eye cancer.  She went in for a dermatologist appointment for a few moles that end up being just that, moles.  When she was getting ready to leave the Dr noticed a small dot in the corner of her eye, concerned, she wanted to do a biopsy.  A few days later the news not anyone wanted to hear. Cancer. A form of skin cancer that can be treated if detected early.  We don’t know the extent of cancer.  However, the Dr mentioned she would need plastic surgery and an anesthesiologist.  My wife is a kind, caring mother to our three children. She is strong, she can do this. And I'll be right by her side. Still reading, cool. Not only is my wife effected, my 17-year-old daughter also has the exact same cancer.  They went to the dermatologist one day apart and we found out a few days apart they both have it... We are going in for a second opinion, which will be out of pocket. As I type this, I struggle to hold back tears. It's not fair.  My daughter has not even had a chance to realize her dreams in life. She recently received a modeling contract and is finishing her senior year in high school.  And my wife and I have many more years ahead of us. As a family, we have never seen our grandchildren.  The eldest is 5.  And if you've made it this far, thank you.  But they say trouble comes in threes.  I guess the start of this trilogy of events; my son broke his heel the day prior to their first appointment.  We do have insurance, but we all know how good they are. So any amount could help.  And to be honest, after all, is said and done, I need to take my wife on a trip to see our daughter and grandkids.  Its well deserved for her and my 17-year-old daughter. Over the last several years life has been rough. The number at the top is arbitrary. I don't know what this will cost me.
