Hi. I'm Brian. If you're here, the odds are good that you know me. I am a full-time freelance cartoonist and graphic designer.
So, last year I owed the government about $3,000 in taxes. I didn't know things I needed to know at the time and I was hit with some penalties. I did not have the money to pay it. I thought I would eventually gather the funds over the year, but things never worked out and the bill ended up being pushed back. I kepy spinning plates and it kept being pushed back. I even tried to call a few times to make arrangements but never got anyone who could help. So, the bill kept getting pushed back. Now, I have a scary letter saying they intend to seize property or rights to property if the bill isn't paid by August 27, 2017.
I do not have enough credit to borrow the money. My savings are tapped. I am down to my last option: asking for help. If you know me, you know I'm doing something I am not good at. I don't like to ask for help but this is scary and I need to do something.
Basically, I am going to try to hit this from every angle. I am posting this GoFundMe to friends and family and I will also be opening up commissions to my readership (and friends and family) on Friday.
I know I screwed this up. I know my pride caused the problem. I hate being here in this position, but I am out of options and this is scary. If you can help, I would appreciate it. I know money is tight all around and I will do whatever I can to repay any kindness thrown my way.
