Scott Johnson is a hard working man, working for the City of Mesquite for over 20 years. He is loving husband to Kelly and father of two to Mason and Macie. The loving family could use a little help right now.
Scott has been having medical issues for the past six months. He is suffering from a back injury which a recent MRI showed to have severe bilateral neural foraminal stenosis with encroachment of the exiting L5/S1 nerves. Diagnosis also included Spondyolisthesis which is the anterior slippage of one vertebra over another (fifth vertebra over the sacrum).
These conditions have caused back pain, radiating to his right leg causing leg weakness, deceased muscle strength, decreased hip flexion, gait abnormality and decreased speed, resulting in decreased functionality, including severe limitation in walking and standing, moderate limitation in sitting, inability to sleep and inability to work. EMG/NCV was performed and found that in his right leg his nerves did not respond.
After numereous doctors appointments, exams, x-rays and images, it has been determined that the only treatment is Anterior Lumber Interbody Fusion Surgery. This is a 5 hour surgery in which they will enter through the stomach and back, place a spacer, rods and screws to line his spine and give his discs more room. The surgeon has recommended surgery ASAP. After surgery Scott will be transferred to a rehab facility for an unknown length of time.
The Johnsons do have insurance but out-of-pocket expenses are rising quickly. As one can imagine, this medical crisis puts this family in a financial hardship. They must pay approximately $1400 before surgery can be performed, which is scheduled for February 17th.

There are so many unknowns at this time, but we know that God is in control. If you are unable to provide financial support we understand.
