Please help our Yeongi!

My name is Maria and this little baby here is our Yeongi (Young-ee).  He is approximately 6-7 months old, and he was found by my manager at my previous job while he was being abused by children from the neighborhood. He was very shy when we first brought him into our home, but in the few months we have had him he has become the most loving and gentle kitty ever. All he wants is to be snuggled and pet, and his idea of fun is climbing up through your clothes at every opportunity to be closer to you.  In the time we have had him I have come to feel like his mother, which is why this hurts me so much.

Yeongi is in desperate need of a blood transfusion, because he is suffering from extreme anemia which we are unsure of the cause.  He has been feeling unwell for a few weeks intermittently, and has recently been refusing to eat or drink.  I found him yesterday morning mostly unresponsive, unable to walk and feeling cold. We brought him to an emergency vet who after some tests explained his status and how important it is that we act quickly.  Yeongi needs a blood transfusion if he has any hope of recovering from his severe anemia, and if we continue to only hydrate him we will be slowly lowering his RBC count until he can no longer breathe. The cost of this transfusion, along with blood typing, antibiotics, continued fluids and tests to determine to exact cause of his ailment are starting to build up to scary amounts, far more than we would be able to find quickly enough given his worsening state. If further treatment and testing reveals he has a liver disease or something else requiring long term care we will also be strugging to cover this until we can get him insured and my income becomes stable in the summer.

We are extremely low on funds currently due to our high winter bills and accumulated debt, so along with all of our spare money we are desperately trying to help our kitten using anything we can find. Both my fiancee and  I work full time, and even this isn't enough to manage such large medical bills at this unexpected time.

Yeongi is such a loving, gentle kitten who has been through so much in such a short amount of time, and all I want is for him to recover so he can have a chance at experiencing life the way it should be. I want to show him that not everyone is out to hurt him, and I need him to know how much I love him and need him to get better. We understand that we can't force him to recover if he really needs to go but we will never be able to forgive ourselves if we don't do anything we can to give him a fighting chance.

In only the few hours we had him at the veterinary office, he went from lethargic and groggy to completely unresponsive, and then became somewhat active after starting him on fluids and giving him glucose due to low blood sugar, but his condition is slowly deteriorating and it is clear that he has very little hope of recovering on his own if we don't give him this transfusion. He is a little guy but I know he is strong, I can only hope he is strong enough to hold on until we can get him the treatment he needs. He survived the night, but I don't know how much longer he will survive if we can't help him and after our funds run out, we will not be able to afford continued hospitalization if his condition does not change.

I am asking and begging you, please. If you have any small amount of money you can donate towards getting our kitten his transfusion or continuing his treatment, any small amount will help. I am trying everything I can think of to help him and this feeling of not being able to is unbearable. I am asking you as both a fellow animal lover and pet parent, is it normal to feel like i'm dying with him, and hurt so badly seeing him sick? We need our baby back.. Even if the treatment doesn't work, He needs to be given that chance. He deserves that chance, so much.

If we somehow manage to raise enough funds for his treatment, we will be starting it immediately and continuing to update on his health status.. and if it is already too late, we will need to be able to cremate him, and use any remaining funds towards vet costs for our other cats.

Thank you all so much for reading this, even if you aren't able to help us at this time I am glad that you care enough about a stranger's pain to read this. Please tell a friend if you think this is something they may be interested in too.
