Lubbock Street Gourmet

Street Gourmet is four friend's vision for a nonprofit  providing free restaurant quality meals and food supplies for the homeless and needy populations of Lubbock, Texas. The focus of each meal served will be nutritional sustainability, cost effectiveness and most importantly deliciousness! This program will partner with local churches and charitable organizations to offer a weekly food truck meal and assistance to locals. Street Gourmet’s goal is to fight hunger in Lubbock while simultaneously spreading awareness and encouraging community involvement in the current hunger epidemic. 

To date we have been serving meals cooked in our home kitchens and have been driving around looking for people in need on Sundays. We were recently blessed with the donation of a food trailer that is no longer in use. While the trailer needs a little work, we are confident that will a little tlc it will be perfect for our needs! Our plan is to set up this trailer to serve hot meals in multiple locations to better reach the people that need us most. Any advice or help from those who are more experienced in food service or charity would be greatly appreciated, so far we have gathered that we will need these things to get the trailer operational:

·      40 feet x 24 inch stainless steel sheeting ($ 160)

·      (4) 10.5 quart Soup Kettles ($400)

·      (4) 8 oz ladles ($40)

·      (1) 3500 Watt Generator ($350)

·      (1) Set Chef Knives ($120)

·      (1) Magnet Knife Strip ($20)

·      500 Recyclable Cups,  Plates and Silverware  ($60)

·      200 sq. feet Laminate Flooring ($200)

·      (2) Trailer Tires ($130)

·      Misc. Pluming and Electrical Materials ($100)

·      Mobile Food Vending Permit ($250)

Our plan is to fundraise on our own via charity carwashes and donation drives locally. Our projected launch date will be 3/15/16, check for updates on our facebook lubbockstreetgourmet. Any donation is much appreciated, there is a real need all around us; we want to do our best to help and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for doing the same!
