IT'S CYCROPIA'S 30th BIRTHDAY!

And, after 30 years, Cycropia will have a NEW HOME! Please join the celebration by donating to Cycropia's campaign to raise $30,000 for its 30th year!


Based in Madison, Wisconsin, Cycropia Aerial Dance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dance company formed in 1989 and is one of the oldest continuously-operating aerial dance troupes within the United States. Using single-point trapeze, bungee, lyra, aerial fabric and custom steel apparatus, Cycropia is known for delighting its dancers, students, and audiences with a unique blend of aerial artistry, circus‐style acrobatics, modern dance, and gravity-defying magic. NEW HOME: 


For the past 30 years, Cycropia members have searched Madison's Isthmus and the greater Madison area for an affordable home with the height and space needed to support the aerial arts. In the past year, this dream has finally become a reality!  As of April 2019, Cycropia will begin moving into brand-new, beautifully-lit space, built by Newcomb Construction. Turning this beautiful space into a home that meets the unique needs of an aerial dance troupe requires additional build-out materials and labor.  Presently, troupe members, students, and friends of Cycropia are volunteering their time and talent to install the pipe grid, wood floors, and much more to make this new space a reality. Estimated build-out costs for materials (with labor volunteered by the Cycropia community) include the following specific items:  Sprung-wood Plywood Floor ($10,000), Pipe Grid for Rigging ($5500), Kitchen/Shelving/Storage ($5000), Safety Mats ($2500), and Scaffolding ($750).  


An additional $55,000 will be spent contracting with Newcomb Construction to make improvements, beyond the base building standard, to include:  a running wall (for suspended vertical dance), a second ADA-compliant bathroom, a custom lighting and electrical grid, an upgraded heating unit with A/C, and an entryway vestibule.
