Cycle Therapy Documentary

Donation protected
This Summer, I'm riding my bicycle across the country and filming a documentary to encourage an open conversation about mental Illness. It's tentatively titled "Cycle Therapy".

My friend and filmmaker Anthony and I will be documenting the journey, meeting characters, having candid conversations, and showing why talking about mental illness is more than ok. This film will ignite a healthier conversation about depression, anxiety and other mental struggles.

My name is Tony Fuller, and I have lived with a reoccurring empty feeling most of my life, but I wasn't diagnosed with anxiety and depression until I was in my 40s. Keeping it bottled up inside made it worse for me and my family. When I finally started telling people, something amazing happened. They listened, gave me unconditional support, and often talked about how mental illness was present in their own lives. It was a huge boost for me, and I want to share that with other people.

Only about 1 in 5 Americans who suffer from depression or anxiety seek help. The stigma of mental illness keeps them suffering in silence. Getting them to talk about their feelings is crucial.

Anthony and I have outlined the film hundreds of times, but have realized we just need to let the ride tell it's own story. We are humbled by the amount of friends who have volunteered their time on this project and have shared their own stories. Some will even join me along the route adding more to the story.

Why ride my bike? Riding is therapy for me. Suffering on the bike makes my depression suffer. It lets me distance from my depression, at least temporarily.

All donations will help us document the journey and create the film. We are also looking into ways to keep the story going once the film is complete, by creating a foundation that enables others to experience "Cycle Therapy".  A trailer for the film and a website will be released shortly. The website will provide more information, and let you track my ride and interact in real time.

Thank you for making this journey possible.
