Help buy Bicycles for children in Zimbabwe

Donation protected
Walking long distances to and from school is an experience I know too well. Most students wake up at the crack of dawn to track for 20 kilometers or more to school, which is normal in Zimbabwe's poorest rural communities. Children as young as 5 years old have to walk to ECD centers more than 5 kilometers away. Getting to school exhausted and late with an expectation to learn at the same pace and aptitude as the students staying near the school.

Various studies conducted across Africa have shown that long distances to schools are a major contributing factor to children dropping out of school. Having experienced this growing up in rural Zimbabwe motivates me to help children from the most marginalized backgrounds in rural Zimbabwe to stay in school.

Although there are organisations  out there that have come through to assist some students with bicycles, the challenge still remains because the majority of the marginalized children that do not get selected fall through current existing safety nets in these rural communities. What happens then? Do they not deserve support? They still walk the long distances, still  dream like the rest but stuck with an ill fate of being too poor to afford a solution or too unlucky to get picked for a particular safety net. These children still deserve an equal opportunity to access education facilities, to stay in school and get an education.

Cycle for education campaign is dedicated to solving the challenge of long distances that cause children to dropout of school.  It is aimed at achieving the following in Zimbabwe:

1) Reduce school dropouts in Secondary schools.
2) Improve attendance, giving students more learning time.
3) Improve performance of students at school as a result of getting more learning time.
4) Improve access to education.

So far, we have managed to buy and donate 33 bicycles to students in Zimbabwe and they have gone a long way in ensuring that those 33 marginalized children stay in school and get an education.

The campaign is currently in its first phase and with a target of supporting 2,000 (Two thousand ) students with bicycles and your funding will go a long way in achieving this.

Children are the future of any nation. If the children get a proper foundation in education, they have a higher chance of contributing productively to the economy which will lead to the positive regeneration of their communities.

Together let’s contribute and solve this challenge of distance that riddles poor rural communities.

A single bicycle will bring back hope.

A single bicycle will build dreams.

Educate, Empower, Build!
