Karl's Medical Fund

On November 30, 2017, I received one of the worst phone calls a daughter can: "your dad had a heart attack". Immediately, my heart sank.  With nearly no information and in a full panic, I drove (more like sped) straight to the Meijer Heart Center in downtown Grand Rapids. When I arrived, my dad was already in surgery. Shortly after, we were able to go in to see him. The doctor came in to explain that my dad, Karl Hesse, had a massive heart attack that morning, one that very few survive. My dad is only 49 years old. He explained that 2 of his arteries were 99% blocked and each had to have a stent put in to hold them open. He was optimistic but explained the complications that could surface anytime in the next 48 hours.

Within minutes of being moved upstairs for his 2-day recovery, one of his arteries had clotted and he was having another heart attack. He was raced back downstairs for yet another procedure that seemed like it went on for days. By this time, family and friends had taken over the waiting room and anxiously waited for him to pull through. God answered many prayers that day. He pushed through the next 3 days and was able to go home on that Saturday with many restrictions, much to his frustration.

My dad is the main income for their household: Spending 4 days in the hospital, with 2 major procedures, ongoing extra medications, and a total of 10 days off work, has taken a serious financial toll. Although he would never ask for your donation, I know that any amount will help them tremendously. With medical bills to pay on top of the monthly ones that never stop, things will be tight for a while. Any help you can provide would be incredibly appreciated. God Bless!
