Friends,
It's with great sadness (but optimism) that I am reaching out to all of you. My best friend, Phil's Ridge Harry Potter (Harry ), has undergone extensive emergency surgery this week and his hospital stay and road to recovery will be long and excruciating.
Harry and I have been together for 11 years, since I was 16. He has been my companion, secret keeper, and foundation through high school, college, and now adulthood. This horse has given more of himself to me than I could have ever imagined or even begun to ask for. He is my partner. He is truly one in a million with the biggest heart and most friendly personality. Whether he is competing in Third Level dressage, inspiring younger students at the barn, or being the ultimate Lead Line babysitter, he is absolutely amazing.
His sickness began on Thursday morning when he became very sick due to an impaction in his large intestine. After meeting with several vets and taking him to a clinic in Aiken, SC, he was referred to the animal hospital at UGA. There they discovered that he had something wrong with his small intestine and determined that surgery was the only option. During 4 hours of surgery Harry had 10 ft of his small intestine removed Friday morning (4/13/18). His recovery process is going to be very intense and he will have to stay under their care for a minimum of 7 days. He is not out of the woods yet and has a hard road ahead of him.
As you can tell, Harry means the world to me. Grayson and I truly appreciate any support you can give towards his medical bills.
