Backpacking Peru

I want to see the world. More specifically and immediately, I want to see Peru and South America. The choice in destination was not easy; I jumped around between South Africa, Iceland, India and Peru for some time but something about the snow-capped mountains and rich culture of South America got me, especially after I spoke to a few people who've visited there. It seems that everyone who goes comes back a new, smarter, stronger person that can't wait to go back. I want to learn the beautiful language, lose myself in the mountains and listen to the indigenous tell stories of their culture.
I want to grow and expand intellectually and soulfully. I want to be inspired, and I think Peru can do this for me. I hope to give it something of myself too, which is why I'll be volunterring in local communities as I make my way from Cusco to Juanchaco.
I work part-time and am actively searching for a second job, but on top of applying to college in the fall as well as maintaining friendships with people who are important to me, playing soccer, and keeping my grades up, I can't make this happen alone. I'm selling my labor whilst travelling but even so, plane tickets are not cheap.
