C-U Stands With Standing Rock

WHAT WE STAND FOR:
Two C-U Stands with Standing Rock fundraiser concert events will be held in the near future in Champaign-Urbana, IL to help the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe pay legal expenses, food, water, shelter, sanitation, etc. in their fight against Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) company, currently in the process of building a 1,134 mile long $3.8B pipeline to transport fracked crude oil from the Bakken shale formation in Northwestern N. Dakota, through S. Dakota, Iowa and Illinois to existing pipeline(s) in Southern Illinois.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota has raised concerns about the pipeline's effect on burial grounds and water supplies.
The two C-U Stands with Standing Rock fundraiser concert events will consist of a mix of 7-8 local bands playing their music, interspersed with presentations from Native American speakers about the current situation with DAPL, Native American culture, heritage, history, etc.
Suggested donation: $10 per person, per fundraiser concert event.
The first C-U Stands with Standing Rock fundraiser concert event will be held Saturday, October 15th, 1-9 pm, 2016 at Alto Vineyards (4210 N Duncan Rd, Champaign, IL).
The second C-U Stands with Standing Rock fundraiser concert event will be held Saturday, November 12th, 1-10 pm, 2016 at the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (202 South Broadway, #100, Urbana, IL).
We hope to live-stream both fundraiser events, courtesy of WEFT 90.1 Community Radio.
