ABOUT ME:
Hello there - my name is Irene Marquette. If you're reading this you probably know me. If for some reason you've stumbled upon this: COOL! I'm an improv teacher (iO, Annoyance, Second City), performer and director living in Chicago, IL since 2005.  More about me.

ABOUT THE CURIO SHOW:
Since 2013 I have been producing/curating/hosting something called The Curio Show. Realizing that my interests and show ideas outweighed my ability to turn them into huge projects,  I wanted a space where my curiosities were a project unto themselves and I could collaborate with a wide variety of artists and performers.  Completely different every month, The Curio Show is an event that explores a particular theme, subject or idea with purpose, cohesion, and spectacle because you gotta love a SHOW. It is my goal for every show to craft an evening that is fun, thought provoking and one of a kind.  Shows have featured comedians, singer/songwriters, goddess rituals, actors, musicians, writers, and poets.

It is important to me to have a show that is socially conscious and diverse with an inclusive and feminist ideology. That I can do this in a comedy context something that makes me proud.

WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR $, IRENE?
I am taking this show on the road with two performances in New York. January 18th at 10pm at the Annoyance theatre in Brooklyn and January 21st at Under Saint Marks on the Lower East Side. The shows will feature performances from Chicago, LA and New York based performers. Comedy, magic, story telling, music, dance and more.

Turns out this stuff is a bit pricey. Between airfare, venue fees (including something called a fire guard), tech needs and the desire to help out the performers who are traveling I'll be honest - it would help to have some help.

PEOPLE LIKE THE SHOW:
Frequently on the Top Five things to do list in Time Out, here’s what they said:

"Local writer/director/improvisor Irene Marquette's Curio Show has staged a slew of charming concept-driven shows at the Gallery over the last year. Like a live version of your most interesting friend's Tumblr feed, Curio Show pays tribute to under-appreciated cultural nuggets like Stairway to Stardom (the public access television answer to Star Search) and the discography/legacy of Kate Bush."

Recently recommended by the Chicago Reader, the Curio Show was described as “iO’s hidden gem”. Read it!

Frequent Curio performer Wes Perry who will be at both shows in New York!

Thank you so much for reading this and considering making a donation. I really love this show and if you've seen it, hope you do too. The opportunity to take this show on the road is a real dream come true. Thank you for supporting that!

xoxo, Irene
