Help Tara Slay Breast Cancer

Hi, our names are Lisa, Adam, and Beth. We're writing on behalf of our sister, Tara Elmore, who was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma) shortly after Thanksgiving. Yes, we are all still in shock. If you know our family, you know how crazy tight we are and that we'll go to the ends of the earth for the people we love—and to know Tara, is to love Tara. 

If you don't already know how awesome Tara is let us tell you a little bit about her. Tara is many things to many people: the greatest sister and mom-pal a gal could ask for, a loving daughter, a loyal friend, an amazing co-worker and reliable neighbor. 

Above all, Tara is a deeply devoted wife to Steve, and a playful, thoughtful and loving mom to Elias and Simone. Handsdown, Tara, gives the best hugs (always go for the extra long version). She's the greatest champion and supporter. She is preternaturally optimistic, generous and kind. Tara is a peacemaker and always, the voice of reason. She is also what some simply refer to as "good company." You just want her around, no matter what. Her high school class voted her best smile. It's the kind of smile that speaks volumes and gets airline upgrades without her even asking. It's warm, genuine and without agenda—just like Tara. 

We are setting up this fund to support Tara and her family as she prepares for the fight of her life. After the first of the new year, Tara will start an aggressive round of chemotherapy in the first week of January for 5 months. She will then have surgery (or surgeries), and possibly radiation as determined by the success of the chemo and nature of the cancer. As life curveballs tend to do, this one is particulalry ill-timed, as Tara was just getting a new business up and running after being laid off from her long-time job last year. 

These funds will be used to help defray medical costs: deductibles, co-pays, and many of the additional fees not covered by insurance. The Elmores will also need lots of support with additional childcare, housekeeping, healthy meals, rides, groceries and whatever it takes to keep their home running smoothly while Tara undergoes treatment. We will also put these contribultions toward any other essentials to help keep Tara strong, comfortable, and healthy over the coming months.

We know Tara is going to beat this thing handily and that she and Steve's powerfully optimistic spirit, love and outlook will only help. We want to relieve them of any avoidable stressors and burdens that could divert them from our #1 goal: TO HEAL & CURE TARA !!

The Elmores were hesitant to ask for help in this way, but we believe that friends and family want to help and support, and we KNOW that Tara and Steve would be the first to help any of us in our time of need. No amount is too small and every contribution will be deeply appreciated and thoughtfully spent.

And no matter what, we ask that you keep Tara, Steve, Elias and Simone in your thoughts and prayers and hold them in love and light. Good vibrations ONLY.
