#CureHuntingtons | RAAM Documentary

Straight up, we are raising a bootstrapped yet necessary amount of financial support to create a passion project around a story and a family that needs to be shared.   The video above was cut together on the run after Day 1 and we have a vision to do this the right way and that requires us to ask for help...

Three months ago, Nathan and I were strangers.  Three days ago, we found ourselves embarking on a road trip together across America, 100% committed to telling an epic story about a family and their friends, how they took on a bike race to fight against a neurological disease, and what they are all willing to endure to find a cure.  We need your help!  We are creating a documentary on a group of 21 family, friends, and strangers on a fully volunteered 7-8 day grueling bicycle race across America, all to help find a cure for Huntington's Disease.
We are tackling the Race Across America "RAAM 2015" to raise awareness for Huntington's Disease...with a twist.  Nathan Apffel, an Emmy winning filmmaker (Principal of Corban Productions ), has rallied together a film crew to donate their talents, his production gear to capture the journey, and his own time and creativity to tell the story when a group of folks come together to take on "The Devil of All Diseases" on the "World's Toughest Bicycle Race".  A hero's journey will unfold and this is your chance to contribute to the way this story is told.

Help us deliver this documentary.  Our goal with the documentary is genuinely pure and very personal: ultimately we want to raise awareness about HD, it has affected people we love, and we want to cure it.  We aren't scientists, we aren't doctors, we are creatives who love story telling.  We know we can make a film about HD,  do it in a way it's never been done before, and we can't do it alone. And there are hard costs involved for the film crew that is traveling across the USA and with finishing an univeral high definition film (ie truck rental, gas, specialty equipment, editing of film, music mixing, etc).  Our backs are against the wall with time, so we've opted to create and push fundraising through this online platform.

What is HD?
HD is a genetic, degenerative, neurological, brain disorder.
In short it is as if ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s rallied together to attack a human being and his/her family.  HD is incurable and untreatable.  It usually strikes victims in the prime of life between 35-45 years old, robbing those affected of all independence.  The typical patient with HD can live 15-20 years with the disease, most of those years being completely dependent on others.  Furthermore, each child of a person with HD has a 50:50 chance of inheriting the dreaded disease.  Thus, scientists and doctors alike have nicknamed HD as the "Devil of All Diseases".  This disease is like no other and when HD affects someone, it truly is a disease of the entire family.

Family is everything.
