Help me along my culinary journey!

My name is Derious, and I'm fighting hard every day to reach my dream to be a Master Chef. As a child growing up in a rough part of Chicago called Englewood, my family really didn't have much food in the house. We had to eat the same things every day. I became interested in cooking from watching my auntie. Every time I’d go over to her house she was cooking a nice dinner for the family, and I would watch closely. As time went on, I became very passionate about cooking, picking up on her skills quickly, which has lead me on this great journey. I’ve been putting myself through Washbourne Culinary School, with about 3 semesters left. My mom & my mentor Billy Dec (both in picture with me on my 22nd birthday) have been really supportive. Billy & I met about 4 years ago on the show “Chicagoland” (see video above), when he volunteered at my high school in Roseland called Fenger. He mentored me about acheiving goals, giving me advice, helped pay to get my computer fixed, given me clothes and shoes, and when I needed a job, he hired me at his restaurant Sunda where I love to work. Unfortunately my mom, brother & I lost our apt lease in Englewood, and I had trouble keeping up with the heavy tuition at school, having to take the semester off. My mom is looking for a second job, Billy is helping us find a safer place to live, and now that he knows I missed my school payment, is helping me get back to classes right away. Basically, I don’t want it to just fall on them, I am working harder, but could use help too. The money I raise here will ONLY go to tuition, class needs & to help my mom with our rent. I just want to make them proud, you proud, and myself proud. Thank you for your consideration, Derious.
