As a former Pro cyclist competing in cycling events all over the US and South America,I was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 2006.I was able to get a stem cell transplant and beat the cancer, but the chemo destroyed my kidneys.Since 2007 i have been on dialysis. 10 years this coming January. My goal was to start a youth cycling program that would help inner city kids and give them an opportunity to compete as high as they could achive. I had started this before i got sick, but had to take care of my health and well being. In 2014 i was able to start my dream again with some help from former riders and friends.
We now have six  15 yr old riders on the program, and  have had the luck to borrow some bikes and clothing from friends, but we still need to purchase ,new bikes, helmets, clothing ,shoes and pay for race fees.We are hoping that  we can get some funding so this dream can become true. Our main goal is to be able to develop these riders so they can qualify for Nationals next year and maybe send one or 2 athletes to the olympics in the near future.

Hello all just a quick post to let the community know how kids are doing. 2weeks ago we won the Dave Jordan race with Gabriel in15-16 and DJ 10-12. A day later we won the JR Crit CHAMPIONSHIP in Whiteplains. That's 3 years in arrow. Both again with Gabriel and DJ.
3 Cuevas team juniors are qualified to go to nationals in Kentucky. That is Gabriel Tonini DJ Toback and Miguel Gómez. The boys will be traveling with the Toback family which are making a family vacation out of it. They will drive to Syracuse Sunday for NYS JR RR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. The will go Monday to Kentucky. I want to thank first of all Nolan and Adi for helping me since my cancer returned in December. And of course Doug and Diana Toback which ran cycling camps in Connecticut and at their home in Merrick. And feed the whole team Friday nites at Merrick races. We have gotten a grant from NYSBRA and still need to come up with $1000 for food gas and room. As the grant all goes to registration. So once again I asking all of you fellow riders, friends , family and all of you that support us, to please donate what you can.
There are only 75 riders that qualified and we have 3 local boys go is amazing. They will be racing the best in the USA. PLEASE help us out so we are able to be there representing NYC proud. Thanks and god bless.

Dear friends and fellow riders. The boys are doing great and next week is the 3 of Sommerville, the largest criterium in east. The guys have been racing Merrick on Fridays and Floyd Bennett on Tuesday. 2 great fast crits to get up to speed. John Arias won last week and has leaders jersey. Gabriel Tonini has finished in the top 5 every Friday. We need you help and donations. The Sommerville 3 day weekends will run us $900 to bring 6 juniors. Last year Kevin Agudelo podium on Sunday and was 7 th on Monday. He then was selected to go to Canada. So please help us out. Any amount you can donate is great. And a chance to get the boys out there. Thanks and god bless. Fernando

Hello all hope everyone has had a great winter. As for me after 10 years my cancer returned. I started chemo but ended up in hospital for 38 days. Chemo is going well and hope to keep positive and strong. I start PT next month.
As you all know our program needs donations to work. GoFundMe has done a great job for us these 2 years. We hope you can continue to help making a contribution. Any amount will help.
Nolan Montiel has taken over to manage the team and work with the juniors. This year we have 7 juniors and 5 seniors also mentoring and helping out. Back this season is Gabriel Tonini,Jerry Rodriguez, Miguel Gomez, and DJ Toback. New to the team are Juan Cardona,Howard Rincon and Juan Murillo. We will make our full team debut at Grants Tomb on 3/12/17. Our goal is to do 35 to 40 races on weekends plus some weekly local races to get ready for Nationls in Kentucky. This will not be possible without your contribution.Since the start we have gotten close to $7000 from your kind hearted donations. Again many thanks and God bless.
