Crushing Cancer with the Cardinales
Donation protected
Our hearts go out to the Cardinale family as they try to beat this vicious disease called Leukemia. This family needs hope, support, and a lot of prayers. PJ Cardinale is a 46 year old loving father of two boys; Dom 12, and Mario 10, and an amazing husband to Jodi, a wonderful PA here at Guthrie.
PJ was diagnosed on 08/03/2017 with AML with a 1% survival rate and each day seems to come with it’s own battles. He has endured several chemo treatments, blood transfusions, and several hospital stays in Rochester & NYC. There seemed to be a lot of hope on 12/12/2017 when a wonderful, selfless woman was a match to PJ, and he was able to have a successful bone marrow transplant. This allowed PJ to regain some quality of life, and look ahead to a life in remission.
On June 5th, 2019, the Cardinales were hit with the news they never hoped to hear again, PJ’s Leukemia had returned, and there were few options for treatment. Dr. Becker at URMC gave them some hope & recommended PJ consent to a clinical trial in NYC for an oral medication that worked much different than previous treatments, this trial would require weekly trips to NYC for monitoring.
The Cardinale’s continue to take this one day at a time, and are still hopeful for a miracle. They have taken this battle head on, with such positive attitudes. PJ, nor his wife Jodi, would ever ask for anything but thoughts & prayers. They are so appreciative of the continued love & support, and feel it has helped them immensely during this time.
Jodi’s Guthrie family is reaching out to let all of the people who have wanted to help the family, have an opportunity to do so. The help does not have to be financial, help with meals, ect. Our hope is that it also prompts prayers & positive thoughts for this family, or just to let the Cardinales know that we are here for them, always. Thank you for any & all the support you can give.
