Elite Functional Fitness operates two fitness programs on the South Shore of Staten Island – CrossFit 103 and The Squat Academy.
We are passionate about helping our community, which has some of the worst health indicators in New York City, improve their health and wellness through world-class fitness programs in a fun and positive environment. We strive every day to help change the lives of all the athletes we train.
We are also passionate about giving back to the Staten Island community in whatever way we can. That is why we have decided to give to a local Staten Island charity or cause every single month. As part of this initiative, we ask our members to nominate charities or causes they want us to support. We then let them vote to determine who we will be supporting as a gym that month. It is our small way of helping our community beyond the four walls of our building.
It works like this: we encourage those who visit us to “check-in” on Facebook every time they are in our building. At the end of each month, we will check the total number of check-ins and donate $1 for each check-in to the charity or cause chosen for that month. It’s that simple. Check in on Facebook and we will donate money to that charity.
We will also keep a donation box in the gym and maintain this GoFundMe page so that members and
visitors can also donate if they choose.
100% OF MONEY RAISED GOES DIRECTLY TO THE CHARITY
The month of August's Charity is for Sunrise Day Camp.
Sunrise Day Camps, with a location in Mt. Loretto, are the only full-summer day camps in the world for children with cancer and their siblings from ages 3 1/2 - 16, who are in active, or follow up treatment for cancer. Unlike most oncology sleep-away camps that are only offered for 1-2 weeks each summer, Sunrise allows children to attend camp for as little as 1 day, or the entire summer. This affords children who are in active treatment to continue with their home doctors and enjoy the comfort of sleeping in their own beds each night.
Recognizing the extraordinary financial demands that a child's chronic illness can have on a family, Sunrise day camp is always offered FREE OF CHARGE.
