Hi Friends and Family,
If you know me well, you now that I seldom ask for favors, especially money. Well our family is in a terrible bind right now, before the holidays at that. Our oil tank in our home spilled about 200 gallons of oil in our basement. It seeped through the floors and out the sump pump into our yard and in the creek (not our property). Our basement is pretty much trashed. We are currently out of our home for at the bare minimum of 3 months and it is looking like more. Our house has been deemed uninhabitable. It reeks of oil and we have no heat so obviously we cannot live there. They probably need to pull up all of the concrete and flooring but the extent of the damage is yet to be known. We are being put up in a hotel by our homeowner's policy right now. Our animals are in kennels. We are paying for food out of pocket and will be hopefully getting reimbursed for some of it. But we have no kitchen so food is an issue. Our credit card balance is rising and we hope to get a reimbursement at some point but have no idea when that will be. Our insurance does not cover our 1K deductible and the cost of an eventual oil tank (somewhere between 2-3K). We're hoping our policy will cover everything else but we have liability for everything outside and seperate coverage for the inside of the house. We haven't even finished Christmas shopping and probably will not be able to. We're obviously devastated at this terrible event. We're lucky Chris was home and everyone made it out of the house safely. We understand that everyone is low on funds at the holidays but multiple friends have reached out and wanted to help, so we have started this campaign.
