The Crib-West account is being managed by New Life Church in Santa Barbara and our financial adminstrator, Chris VanBogelen, but all funds will be withdrawn directly into our Crib-West account and designated specifically to CRIB kids. Every dollar we receive will go directly to Crib-West and the kid's needs.
Burundi is located in East Central Africa. In 1993 ethnic Hutu and Tutsi tribes in Burundi escalated into Civil War killing 300,000 over the war’s 12 year span. During the genocide, CRIB orphanage (children rescued in Burundi) was established by Chrissie Chapman.
Today there are more than fifty children in the CRIB orphanage who are ready for post-secondary education and vocational training. Because of the current political crisis in Burundi, there is no infrastructure for university or vocational training. Chrissie Chapman, the orphanage director, along with all of her CRIB support team, have a dream to see all 50 orphans under her care educated and equipped with the skills of higher education or certificated vocational training, in order that these children might become a generation who will bring about the change to rebuild their country.
CRIB-West Educational Fund was established in 2015 in order to help raise funds so that every CRIB child has a chance to reach his or her dream
The CRIB-West Education Fund has so far helped half a dozen children pursue educational dreams in other African countries and in the United States.
Our initial goal is to raise $75,000. There are 11 students who have been accepted by academic institutions in Kenya, Rwanda, Oklahoma and California for the 2016-17 school year. All funds raised will provide for transportation, room and board, tuition, books, clothing and other school related supplies (i.e.: computers).
Any reserves in the fund will enable more children from CRIB to apply and pursue their dreams for the 2017-18 school year.
We need a minimum of $25,000 available by the end of August to pay initial tuition costs and other expenses.
Your generosity will enable these children to pursue their dreams and potentially change a war torn nation.
