Aurora's Medical Fund
On February 2, 2017 we were given the type of news thats very parents worst nightmare. After an emergency room visit for non stop vomitting it was discovered that our 2 yr old daughter Aurora Rose has a brain tumor called a medulloblastoma. An aggresive form of brain cancer that has already spread to other parts of her brain and into her spine. Within 24hrs she was rushed in for an emergency craniotomy to remove as much of the largest tumor as possible, which was located on her cerebellum. In the week to follow she received another procedure to put a permanent shunt into her brain and following that had a port put in for chemo treatments. She has already started her first dose of chemo treatments which will last for the next 5 months and will require her to stay as an inpatient for most if not all of that time. We are asking for any help we can get to cover bills and any unforseen medical costs. Thank you!
Aurora has hit the first bump in what is going to be our long road to recovery. We returned the hospital last Tuesday evening due to her spiking a fever, while we were here it was discovered that she has an infection in her shunt that was possibly caused by the incision on the back of her head opening up. Because of this her shunt needed to be removed and an external drain put in until they can clear the infection up and put a new shunt in. We are now in the PICU where she has to stay until this is done. Unfortunately this pushed her second round of chemo out for a couple weeks, and we will now have wait until then to go home again. In true Rory fashion she is taking this like a champ!
Rory has made it through her first round of chemo as of Wednesday, she has done amazingly well and we'll now have a week or so to rest before they start her second round. We took the leap as well last week to shave her head, her hair had really started to fall out. we will find out after the next round of chemo if it is working to shrink back the remainder of her disease. Thank you everyone for all the prayers and donations.
