Fight for Finley

Donation protected
Friends and Family, we need your help. This precious 3 year old is the face of my sweet nephew Finley. He is a ball of energy and fun, loves his momma, daddy and big brother Leland and is just a happy little PRINCE (as his family calls him). A little over two weeks ago, Finley couldn't seem to get over a stomach bug. He visited the pediatrician on a Saturday morning and by Saturday night he was in intensive care with renal failure and subsequent heart failure.

Finley is thankfully out of intensive care but is still in the hospital. He has a very long road ahead of  him regarding his kidneys. His heart has since improved, however, which is a true gift from God and the medical staff that has cared for him day and night. (Not to mention the countless sleepless nights from my sister Katie and Nathan Kivett)  Finley has now spent 18 days in the hospital.

The family is working hard to get him home soon to allow him to adjust to a new lifestyle containing dialysis several times a month and possible kidney transplant in the near future. This GoFundMe is to help my sister, Katie, and her family with the medical bills they are about to endure. Any donation or even a share on social media will be an immense help.

We will continue to update everyone on here as we are able. Thank you so much in advance.

Family of the Kivetts

This post is from my sisters facebook page, personally telling their story:

Two weeks ago we revisited the pediatrician because Finley’s “stomach bug” wasn’t improving. Our pediatrician sent us to the ER because Finley’s vitals weren’t great so we headed up there for what I thought was dehydration and causing some breathing issues. What we learned a few hours later was that Finley was in kidney and heart failure. The ER team and several specialists worked quickly and calmly to stabilize him. We moved to our new home in the PICU with the MOST WONDERFUL team of doctors and nurses. We learned on Sunday morning after so many tests and xrays and scans that his kidneys are the size of a 6 month old baby’s. Something acutely injured them, they stopped working, increased his BP, he started retaining fluid which affected his heart function, lungs and liver. He was put on CRRT for 48 hours, we’ve tried out several BP meds and have transitioned to all oral meds and the ability to run around the hospital grounds with his big brother! We’ve done hemodialysis intermittently for the last 10 days and we are still waiting on a final plan for this prince! The teams of nurses and doctors make this experience way less stressful than it could be. We have a VILLAGE of friends and family helping keep us fed, bringing toys to BOTH Leland and Finley, mailing us packages, sending fresh juice for Nate and me, mowing our lawn, bringing dinner, sending Finley friendly videos, and snuggling with linus, getting mail, helping me with classroom projects, and lifting us up in prayer daily. Finley has been the BEST PATIENT. He is so positive and content and loves to snuggle and watch movies and be spoon fed. His spirit is high and I think if Leland was here with him everyday he would be content just living here. He misses his morning snuggles and nightly wrestling time with his brother! #princefinley #anyonewanttodonateakidney @ Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt
