This is Carolena, my absolutely adorable 6 year old niece!
On Friday night when Carolena went to sleep she had no idea that she would lose all of her toys, her books, and her home to storm Jonas.
She woke up to the sound of the flood siren, quickly followed by rushing ice water filling her home. Panicked and scared her family did everything they could to start picking up all their belongings and getting to higher ground in the house (which was Carolena's room). When it was obvious that the water was just not letting up her mom and dad decided it was time to call for help. After climbing out her bedroom window and being carried by her dad who was waist deep in salt water they made it to the National Guard who were waiting to rescue them in front of their home. It wasn't long until they were off the Wildwood Island and safe at my home (Thanks to Carolena's Pop-Pop who was waiting at the North Wildwood Bridge).
The devastating realization that you have lost all of your belongings absolutely breaks my heart for Carolena, my sister and her boyfriend (and their little dog Cocoa too). While most of us thought this storm would be a mini vacation from work and school, they are now without most of their blongings and a home. This little girl means the absolute world to me, any donation that you could make would be greatly appreciated by not only myself but Carolena and her family.
