Cousin Malana's Health Crisis Fund
Donation protected
My cousin Malana has been caring for and helping others most of her life. She is a compassionate healer, teacher, a mom, grandmom and a uniquely special person. For the last 10 years she has been living in a small seaside community on the north coast of Honduras where she began a mother's project to help empower single mothers to earn money to support their children. She created a nutrition program to help heal area children and her door became the place that wounded birds, sick puppies and grandmothers were brought for help.
Three years ago her husband became disabled and wheelchair bound. Malana became the sole caretaker and provider of the family. However, now Malana has her own health crisis and needs our help!
Since September Malana has had trouble breathing. X-rays, CT scans, draining of her lung and then a biopsy revealed that she has Stage IV Adenocarcinoma in her lung. It has metastasized.
In other words, Stage IV Lung Cancer.
The surgeons needed to remove 40% of her right lung, but were unsuccessful in getting all of the cancer. Her Pulmonologist in the Honduras wants her to go to
MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Centers in the United States for her cancer treatment because of the better technology and because there are no Oncologists in her area of the Honduras. He feels that with this type of treatment Malana has a fighting chance to beat this.
Malana still has no private insurance. Her husband's medical bills, her recent surgery along with her inability to work during the past three years has left them just making ends meet. She has given so much to her family, friends and community.
I am asking this community for help so that she has the funds to fly to the United States to get the life saving cancer and immune boosting treatments she needs, and get this disease into remission. She also needs funds for the other expenses involved in this treatment and her stay in the United States.
Time is of the essence! Any and all contributions are very gratefully accepted. Thank you for helping and sharing this with others. Let's help Malana so she can keep helping others with her talents and gifts!
