Housefire Aid for the Corsons

Donation protected
My relatives in South Africa have lost their entire house and every belonging except for some bare essentials.  This page aims to raise some much needed emergency aid money to send to them.

The family are also sheltering a number of animals from their property after a devastating experience trying to rescure as many as they could; they are squatting in an empty property with no power.  I would like to raise $5000 to send to support them as they find safe and suitable accommodation.

Shawnee Corson wrote to me: "Wednesday night my mom asked me to come out around 8pm after work to help evacuate the animals from the farm. I only realised how bad the fire was when I could barely see through the smoke from st Albans already.

Everyone was gathered at the top of the dirt road already. My parents were still down at their plot. I got there and we immediately established we would have to grab only the bare minimum such as a bag of food for animals and a change of clothes as the fire was coming up the gorge, we had already had to listen to animals across the gorge die and were adamant about leaving no pet behind regardless of people's opinions, the fire came up the corner of the plot and the jumped across to the corner of the house where the lounge is and started burning that corner of the house first.
This happened in less than, 10 minutes, we got out in time due to disaster management teams helping move the animals.
The wind was so bad dDyl, you could barely stand in one spot, my mom saved her photos and my dad got one of their bikes on the back of one of the helpers Bucky. We then drove on and fetched two more dogs from another property. We then went to the end of the road and waited till 4/5am for the fire to burn out.
We then went to see if we could get into an empty house which the owner is overseas and stayed there till the sun came up.
My parents are still there but have lost everything. There is no power but there is running water, not sure if it is warm."

Please, if you have any capacity to assist, please donate, share and ask your friends to help.  Sending items via post will be substantially delayed so this is the quickest way for us to help from abroad.  However if you do have some clothing or essentials that won't be held up in customs then please contact me for an address.
