Mom's Mobility Support Fund

Who is this campaign is for?:

I created this campaign for my elderly and disabled Mother, Cheryl Jimenez. She lives with me, I'm her youngest daughter.

She is severely disabled with Type 2 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis,
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Fibromyalgia, Sciatica Nerve Pain
 and Degenerative Disc Disease.

The reason I am starting this campaign is because my Mother is a very wonderful person and she deserves to have a better quality of life back.

Her life consists of being in bed and barely being able to move around the apartment, let alone anywhere else. She has always been a very social and caring person, however, due to her illnesses, her quality of life has deteriorated drastically!

I believe the cause of her multiple disabilities is because of the abuse she suffered at the hands of my Father, her husband at the time. He was physically, verbally and mentally abusive throughout their 22 year marriage. She has tried to build a better life after their divorce, but it's been a struggle, especially since her physical disabilities have progressed over the years.

My goal is to help get her mobility back, but unfortunately we do not have the money to get her the help she needs. She has always been an active person, however, now she can't do the things that she was once able to do. She can't even do the simpliest of tasks, like cooking, doing laundry, dusting, etc.

Please help me get my Mother's mobility back. I can no longer sit by and see her suffer. She raised me and my three older siblings and took care of us all on her own. Now it's time that I do the same for her.

Even if you could only donate $1.00, we would be FOREVER grateful. I am doing the best I can to earn extra income, but unfortunately what I do earn isn't enough to pay for what she so desperately needs.

*Please note: This campaign is only set up as a starting point. I am currently working on a permanent solution to help my Mother financially myself. I just need some help until then to get my Mother started on the right path.

What will the funds be used for?:

Queen Size Mattress with Adjustable Base:
She needs a new adjustable bed so she can sleep more comfortably at night. Her bed is so worn out that it slants to the side and she has fallen out of bed at least 10-15 times within the last year and a half, if not more.

Mobility Chair Repairs:

The one she has is standing on it's last leg. We can not get it fixed and the insurance will not pay to have it fixed. She needs a new one because she can no longer walk on her own, and even trying to get around the apartment is extremely difficult, and it's even more difficult to do errands around town or even going to her Doctor's appointment.

Aquatic Physical Therapy:
This is the only way she can do her physical therapy without causing extreme pain and this therapy helps her keep her muscle function and mobility at a more tolerable level.

Copays for prescription medications:
She absolutely needs her pain management medications, Doctor's will not take her off of them because they said she wouldn't be able to function without them.

Gasoline for appointments:
This is essential in getting her to the Doctor's appointments and  any specialists that she needs to see. There is no way that she can walk.

Photographic Proof:
Here is a chart I created that shows the knee x-rays my Mom had done in March of 2016.  As you can see, her knees are not at a normal function, most especially her right knee.

UPDATE:
Mom's back is getting so bad, she can't walk on her own anymore. She can't even stand up straight. I do not have her back x-rays at this time. I will try to get those posted here soon.

Here is a photograph of her 15+ year old adjustable bed, as you can see, some parts are sinking in and it makes it very uncomfortable for my Mom to sleep on it. She has fallen out of bed at least 7-15 times in the last 12 months, if not more. With her lung conditions, she has to sleep with an adjustable bed so she can be in the upright position and her insurance will not pay to get her a new one.

This is where she spends most of her time because she can't get around like she used to.

I took the liberty to take a photograph of my Mom's mobility chair, to show you how old it is and that is does in fact need repairs.

UPDATE:
Her mobility chair is on it's last legs and we need to get her a new one. We are having difficulty getting her insurance to pay for a new one and they will not approve to have any repairs done on it. We have been battling this for 2 and a half years now.

This is how my Mom has to get around in the apartment, when we go for our walks or when we do our errands. Even if she takes a few steps, she gets out of breathe, as well as losing her balance and falling because of the lack of support in her spinal cord.

The reason I added these photographs, is because I feel I need to give you all a visual aid of what life is like for my Mother. She no longer has the quality life she deserves. We need help and can not do this alone.

I am pleading with you all to please help me give my Mother her quality of life and mobility back. We need your help.

I will be posting updates to keep you all informed on her health or any other issues that come up.

I would like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for stopping by and reading my Mother's story. Anything donated will be most greatly appreciated.

Please share this campaign on Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter or anywhere else you can. Thank you.
