Corporal Nathan Cirillo of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada was one of three sentries from the Ceremonial Guard posted at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on October 22, 2014. While on ceremonial duty, he was fatally shot on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Nathan Cirillo is remembered as a gallant young man who loved his dogs and the people around him. The City of Hamilton formally named the Ancaster leash-free dog park after the fallen reservist. It is the hope of the members of this park to raise $3,000.00 to install a flag pole that will proudly fly the Canadian flag in honour of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a true Canadian hero.
