Cookies for Gun Sense

My name is Rebecca Weld.  I am an architect, and a mom, and I decorate sugar cookies as my hobby.  I love the cookie community, especially how generous they are! 

Right now in our country, school shootings, and gun violence in general, have become a real issue.  I know that with my young children, every school shooting is a gut punch, and I really want to do something to help! I've been noticing that Moms Demand Action is one group that has really been doing a lot, but I live far afield, and I have a business to run and a family to support, so I thought my cookie friends and I could do a cookie giveaway and solicit donations for Mom's Demand to support them with the help of our fans and customers!

Moms Demand Action, Everytown, and other gun violence prevention groups have been working on the issue of gun violence prevention since the elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT.  Their work revolves around fighting for common sense gun control- background checks, banning assault rifles and other sensible policies and laws supported by a majority of gun owners and non gun owners alike.

My goal for this cookie event is to use a little sweetness, art, and delight to inspire others to support this cause, and hopefully get a delicious reward in the process!

We are going to be decorating dozens of decorated cookies- each dozen will be given away to someone who donates! $5 donation is a single entry in our drawing, each $20 donation is worth five entries!  We will do the drawing on June 14th, and all those selected will have a set of cookies mailed directly to them! (Anywjere in the US or Canada)  We will donate 100% of your donations toto Moms Demand Action on the 15th!
