I met Connor in the Spring of 2011. I fell in LOVE with him the instant I met him and knew he would be a special person in my life.  He was diagnosed with leukemia on May 18, 2011, just two months after I met him.

I ran my first Pikes Peak Ascent http://www.pikespeakmarathon.org in August of 2013. I wore a picture of Connor on my race bib for that Ascent as a reminder of what a gift it is to be able to climb such a mountain and to remind me of the strength and courage that Connor has shown fighting his battle against leukemia. I got engaged on the top of Pikes Peak  that day. It was only fitting that Connor be a special part of my wedding day.  He was our ring bearer when we got married in September of 2014. He also celebrated the end of his chemo treatment that same month. We celebrated with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cupcakes.
(Connor also gave me a ring, we won't tell my husband!)

On February 3, 2017 Connor 's cancer had relapsed. His leukemia was back. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and in the upcoming months will undergo a bone marrow transplant.

On June 18th and August 20th I will race up two of Colorado's toughest mountains. Mt Evans Ascent  http://www.racingunderground.com/mtevans/registration.html is scheduled for June 18th.  I will dedicated each grueling mile and each foot of vertical elevation gain to Connor and his fight against leukemia. Taking no breath and no step for granted.

My running coach, ultra endurance athlete Chad Weller, will be joining me to raise funds as well. Chad sits on the board for the Colorado Cancer Foundtion.

All proceeds earned for these two races will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. http://www.lls.org  which helps fund research, find cures, and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer treatments.

Race days are listed above.  This will be my fifth year running Pikes Peak Ascent. I will return dressed in orange with a picture of Connor on my race bib.  This one is for you #connormcstrong.  I told his mom I would raise a million dollars, but I'll start with a goal of $10,000.00  and HOPE. Because sometimes HOPE is all that we can offer.

By September I will have two races completed, and have 1,000 's of people educated on Connor's  journey.  We are all in this life together and I am excited to have this opportunity to help raise awareness for leukemia.  #bettertogether

The final day to donate will be September 27, 2017 which is the date of the Light the Night walk.
