Anna Wright - Congressional Art

Donation protected
Anna Wright, a junior from Breaux Bridge High School in St. Martin Parish, is the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana's 3rd District.

Anna has 50% hearing loss, and her art, entitled "Isolation," conveys deep emotions.  Her piece depicts the American Sign Language (ASL) sign for "sadness," and alone boat symbolizes the artist's sense of isolation.

Anna's artwork was declared the winner by a panel of artists and art professionals from South Louisiana.  It will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside winning submissions from every congressional district.  A special ceremony will be held later this summer at the U.S. Capitol to honor the winners from each congressional district.

"We welcomed excellent participation in this year's Congressional Art competition, and the judges had a very difficult decision," said Congressman Clay Higgins.  "Anna is an amazing artist.  Her poignant, moving charcoal drawing is a testament to her depth as a person and her skill as an artist.  It's an honor to have her artwork representing the 3rd District in the U.S Capitol."

Help Anna get to Washington for the ceremony at the U.S Capitol.  Thank you for always supporting Anna and her artwork.
