Computers for Special Needs Kids

These are hard working students of Room 4 that I have the privilege of teaching each and every day of the week.  I am a passionate teacher in  a lower income neighborhood in South Los Angeles.  Many of these children come to school each day with the odds stacked against them.  And though I don't need to go into detail about their situations as I'm sure you are educated enough to know and have read/seen for yourself, there is one thing that the pictures do not show...these kids/my students all have learning disabilities.  Most in the class also have some sort of speech delay, vision impairment, physical development delay and/or emotional disturbance.  So on top of the daily battles for survival they face, which will become increasingly challenging as they grow older, these kids are fighting to learn how to read and write as well as do math so that they can eventually emerge and escape from the situation that so often holds them and their family members back.  
With that said, in this day and age, in order for these kids to have a chance at success, working technology in a classroom is a necessity.  Our classroom does not have this.  We have six computers of which three are broken.  They are very old, slow functioning, and in desperate need of being replaced.  Your donation will help me to do just that.  I will purchase new laptops for my classroom. My students will be able to use the computers to practice reading, writing and math skills through various programs that are available to all children, as well as specific programs for children with learning disabilities.  I greatly appreciate your donation...the students of Ms. Lieberman's Room 4 class appreciate it even more.  Thank you so very much!
