Hello, we are starting off this school year and are in need of supplies. I have a classroom size of 25 students this year ranging from ages 4-5. We are located in the city of Compton, CA.
I am trying to raise some money to buy a set of tablets, not for the entire class but at least 5 to 6 tablets for our "technology center". As of now, we have 1 outdated sad lonely computer that the children cannot access. We need an upgrade.
The children will work in rotating groups throughout the day in stations between quiet/independent work, art, reading, teacher-led instruction, and technology station.
We are not looking for anything really expensive, amazon tablets will work for us. These tablets are sturdy, inexpensive, and have a wide range of educational apps perfect for our students.
The rest of the money will go into buying "new" books for our classrooms. These books will be hand chosen by me, the teacher, and will be bought from second-hand stores. We will be able to obtain more books this way with less money.
Lastly, we will use the remainder of the money to buy supplies for fun activities throughout the year, such as STEM activities and arts.
Our school year officially starts in September but as of right now we are transitioning our preschool children into kindergarten. All of our students are eager to learn and are excited about finally becoming "Big Kid Kindergarteners". We have some special needs children who are integrated with us as part of our class. Some of our students can read at a kindergarten level and some students are still mastering sight words. Overall we are all in this together and looking forward to a fantastic year. Thank you.
