I have had a long journey to reach this point in my life and career. In 2010 I embarked on another challenge in my life, to pursue a long held dream. To obtain a degree in the field that I love; History. I have been teaching history at the post secondary level with a Master of Arts degree in History since 2006.
I am in my last year, almost to my goal. My Dissertation is 5 Chapters plus an introduction and conclusion. I am submitting my 5th chapter in two days!! I am an expert in African American, Modern American, and Modern African History. Additionally, I am a Docent/facilitator at a museum.
I am an excellent scholar and have won awards for research and recognition for my teaching ability. My student evaluations are always high, and I pride myself on my work with the students I have had the pleasure of instructing. I am personable, collegial and always willing to help students, colleagues, and the community.
However, a series of events has left me in a financial hardship. I only work part-time at the museum and the school where I taught closed. My last class was September 18, 2018. Over the last year I have earned so little money that I do not qualify for unemployment benefits ( even those for reduced work).
As a consequence I cannot pay my tuition. I am asking for $1000, Currently tuition is $408 past due and I will need another $348 for my final semester starting this January 2019. The other$244 is for fees towards graduation. I am a recent senior citizen 65 years young!!! I really do not know how to give up. However, I know that I need help. Please share this with your networks!!!
Please Help if you can, no amount to large or small. Thank you All!!!
