Community Gardens Eagle Project

My name is Colin Krukiewicz, and I am a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 13. I am currently working on my Eagle Project, to build raised gardening beds for the Brown Road Meadows Community garden. Which is part of the Campton Township Parks/Open Space Program. It is my goal to complete this project in time for the 2018 gardening season.
This project would allow all members of the community to take part in the community garden experience by providing accessible raised garden beds for those with limited mobility.
These beds will occupy 2 existing garden plots measuring 30’x30’, with each plot having 7 raised beds (14 raised beds total). The beds will be 2’ tall to accommodate gardening from a seated position (Such as in a wheelchair or stool) as well as to minimize the need for bending, kneeling, and back strain. The beds are a maximum depth of 4’, with access from both sides to ensure ease of gardening. The area around the beds will have a minimum 3’ wide, hard pack crushed limestone path. This will provide a stable pathway to create ease of mobility.
My project will be completed with the help of; the Scouts of Boy Scout Troop 13, Students at St. Charles North High School, Campton Township Volunteer Stewards, and Friends and Family.
The funds raised will be used to purchase the nessessary materials to complete my project. In the event I exceede my goal, the surplus will be used to expand the project and construct additional garden beds. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated, but two sponsorship levels are available for those interested.
Level 1: Donations of $150+ will sponsor the construction of 1 bed, as a thank you a small plaque (~2"x3") will be placed on a garden bed showing your support (We will contact you directly regading desired text)
Level 2: Donations of $1000+ will sponsor the construction of 1 Plot (7 Beds). As a thank you a sign (~5"x8" Full Color) will be placed in the garden plot showing your support (We will contact you directly regarding design)
