HELP FOR KRISTINA

My sister Kristina needs our help.  She has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a progressive, debilitating, incurable and eventually fatal motor neuron disease. ALS is rapidly robbing her of the simplest human dignities- the ability to walk, talk, dress herself and even eat. 

Kristina is now unable to work and is faced with skyrocketing expenses. I have put together this page in order to raise money to enable Kristina to acquire the many items she needs to assist her in daily living. For instance, she now needs to move to a new apartment, as her current apartment is largely inaccessible to her. This costs money which she doesn’t have. We are counting on people who know and care about Kristina to help in this extremely difficult and heartbreaking time.

Kristina, once a talented concert pianist, independent businesswoman, and music teacher is still the same brilliant, fun loving and hilarious person we know and love.  As you may or may not know, the person who suffers from this tragic illness, while losing motor function, does not lose mental acuity.  Kristina is so grateful to have friends and cheerful activities with them to help her through this calamitous time.

I am asking for donations to help pay for her mobility equipment, which, astoundingly, is not covered by insurance.  She is now classified as fully disabled.  We are trusting that your help will enable her to sustain a quality of life that, as we know, disability insurance income alone is insufficient to support.
