Cometas de Esperanza

Here's what hope for the future looks like!

It all started on a landfill in the  Dominican Republic.  Could you imagine allowing your children to spend their days picking through garbage?  Oscar Faes couldn't.  Ten years ago he founded the school Cometas de Esperanza.

I met the beautiful people of this school during a service trip in October 2016.  I was with a team of six optometrists organized by West End Eyecare, where I work two days a week.  We provided eye exams to almost all of the children of the school as well as many adults and supplied much needed eyeglasses.

We found a loving, kind and giving community working hard to serve over 400  children in their small school.   Please help us to support director, Andrea Suero, the amazing teachers of classes K-8 and the staff of Cometas de Esperanza to save lives and continue to bring joy, hope and education to the children of Cienfuegos, "La Mosca"  in the Dominican Republic; to persevere so that they never have to go back to a life on a land fill but to have a life sustained by education and hope for the future and independence!

I, JoAnn Adinolfi, will be collecting the money and will be sending the funds via Western Union to Fundacion Cometas de Esperanza's founder and my friend Oscar Faes.

Your donation will help pay for:
-maintaining the school buildings
-improve internet access
-transportation
-purchase  books and other supplies
-supply clean water and sanitation

I hope you will consider making a donation. If you can't give, please keep the children of La Mosca in your thoughts and prayers.

I thank you!  The children of  Cometas de Esperanza thank you!
