Cody Gibbs

WHITSUNDAY  LOCAL SCHOOLBOY,  CODY GIBBS, and his family need your help, please.

It's the news no parent should ever hear, your son has a rare Brain Cancer. 

Just a few weeks ago eleven-year-old Cody, from Airlie Beach, started experiencing severe headaches and blurred vision.  As the seriousness of Cody's symptoms became apparent, Cody was rushed to Brisbane to see a Neurosurgeon where he was officially diagnosed with Cancer.

Cody has been diagnosed with Cancer of the Pineal Gland,  located in the middle of the brain.  Operating is not an option for the moment.  

Doctors have recommended Radiation treatment and preparation has already begun.  Cody will undergo daily doses of Radiation for a six week period, concentrating on the brain and spinal cord. 

With only weeks until Christmas, Cody's parents, Donna and Dwayne, have had to throw a few personal belongings together and leave their home, job's and eldest daughter, Tia, behind so that Cody can receive the urgent medical attention he needs.

Home, for the time being, will be Ronald McDonald house in Brisbane keeping the family together and comfortable.  Funding will help ease some of the burdens and allow the family to stay in Brisbane for the duration of Cody's treatment.   

Donna and Dwayne are overwhelmed with the kindness and well wishes for Cody's speedy recovery and thank everyone for their support.  

Earlier this year Donna and Dwayne finally paid for a family cruise for April next year, let's get behind them so them so they can stay together in Brisbane and take a much-needed family break after Cody's treatment.

~ Cody is one of my closest friends and has been for ages, we picked him up from kindy and went to the park nearly every day. I miss him and hope he gets better so he can come home soon.
