I am raising money specifically for the Mermaid Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Registered Charity Number: 1049687.
As a mum to three young children my worst fear was realised when I found a lump in my breast. This lead to a diagnosed of a Phyllodes Tumor, which is a rare breast tumor.
I was quickly diagnosed at the Mermaid Centre where everything is in house; consultation, mammogram, ultrasound and core needle biopsy.
After diagnosis I had surgery and am now waiting on a second opinion as to whether further surgery is needed.
The warm welcome on a rainy day from the volunteer supplying me with a smile and a cup of tea, to the reception staff, nurses, consultants and surgeons put me at ease with what lay ahead. I was treated with care, respect and understanding.
I am forever thankful, as is my family, for their care, diagnosis and treatment.
This is my way (and hopefully yours) of giving something back. I hope you never have to use their services but if you do I know they will hold your hand through it all.
