Rosemary's Medical Fund

Our Mom, Rosemary Abbott, has just received the dreaded diagnosis that no one ever wants to get.  Uterine cancer.  Sadly, she finds herself in need of as much help as you can give.  Be it money, prayers, words of encouragement, and sharing this page with as many people as you can.  Rosemary, her sister Dorothy, and her son and I (Alex and Susy) thank you so very much for hearing her story, and any donations towards her care will be most appreciated.

Rosemary's journey started with an emergency room trip 4 weeks ago, then on to two other doctors before her diagnosis, and now we need to find a primary care physician before the oncologist will operate.  We're looking at surgery, treatments, medications, possible home care, and any continuing medical expenses.  We need to get started as soon as possible, so her cancer won't spread!

Alex and I have been doing our research on costs, and with what little bit her Medicare Part A covers, the bills will rise far past anything Rosemary and the rest of our family can cover.  We've already received several bills we are barely able to cover as a family.

Rosemary is such a fun loving, wild and crazy, stubborn gal, and she wants to continue her journey on this earth, if the Lord is willing.  We're not ready to see her go yet, either!

We will forever be grateful for any help you can give.  We love our Mom and sister very much!

God Bless You!

Rosemary had her evaluation today. Tomorrow, she goes for another CT scan. Tuesday, the 25th of October, she starts chemotherapy again. The really heavy stuff. This takes her into beyond Christmas. I guess we won't be enjoying any Halloween or Thanksgiving or Christmas activities again this year. She's going to be very weak and very vulnerable.

Rosemary got her flu shot today. Alex got his flu shot today, Dorothy is getting her shot soon, and I'll be going in on Saturday (got a nasty sinus infection to attend to, also).

We also got the summary of billings that are coming down the pike from the 2nd round of cancer [treatments]. At least they waited a while. We won't know about this 3rd round until after it is done. I'm pretty much beyond shock at this stage of the game. I feel so badly for people out there going through this horrible disease, and they have nothing to fall back on...it seems that if the cancer doesn't take you, the shell shock from billing will. :(

We're asking for continued prayers and sharing of Rosemary's plight, and if you wish to donate, every penny goes to taking care of her during this time. Rosemary and the family thank you for anything you can do, and for your caring.

God bless!

A little good news, a little bad news for Rosemary.

The good news, per radiation, Rosemary's tumor has shrunk over 50%. Praise God! She has 5 more rounds to go.

The bad news, chemotherapy has to stop for now. Her liver is highly irritated, and her platelets are low. Today was supposed to be her last chemo session, but they are instead infusing saline, then giving her another blood transfusion. And will address whether or not to go back to chemo at a later date.

We were supposed to get her in for yet another breast cut after her radiation and chemo treatments, but that's on hold for the time being.

Rosemary's very weak, and having some awful intestinal pain and issues. We're trying to get her walking more, but since she's so weak, her ankles (which were bad to begin with) are giving out. And she's very tired, not sleeping well at all. Her appetite comes and goes, today she's refusing to eat anything. She gets very dehydrated at times, even though we pump enough fluids into her to float a boat.

We're asking for continued prayers and good thoughts. And if you have a moment to share this, please do. Everything helps so much.

Thank you, and God bless!

A few weeks ago, we found out that Rosemary has more cancer. In other areas, and a suspicious mass in her breast.

We've gotten Rosemary through her breast biopsy (results in a few weeks). Friday was her first radiation treatment. Radiation is every day, 5 times a week for 6 weeks. Chemo begins next Tuesday. Once a week for 6 weeks (4 hours at a time). And she's got a tooth abcess so that might set things back a bit for chemo. She'll be going into the Emergency Dental Clinic on Monday.

She's all sore and bruised up, but is trying to keep up her spirits. She's still pretty sassy, but slower on the draw. ;) She worries she's a burden, and we keep reassuring her that is NOT the case! Who else could we pick on! LOL

Alex's boss has offered to let us use a rental if it gets too much for Rosemary to get into my SUV or the trucks. And he's working with him on time off to take her to treatments when he needs to. Dorothy and I will be driving her every other day. A big THANK YOU! to Jesse! He's been such a sweetheart through this. <3

I haven't updated Mom's GoFundMe page lately...it's been pretty busy times here, finally getting around to it. But if y'all would continue to share it, we'd sure appreciate it. We could definitely use the prayers for her, shares, and donations (if possible). I'm doing my best to keep up with her finances, but this added to her earlier bills, it's just too much, and we could use a miracle here. We're bottoming out slowly but surely. Every bit of the earlier donations have gone to her bills and meds and medical equipment, and Alex and I are doing what we can monthly...it's just not enough. :( My earlier estimate on all this was actually low (today's medicals are so expensive now). Even with Medicare. 20% of just the chemo (each time she gets it) is what she makes in 2 months, and I have no clue how much the radiation is.

Emotionally, this has been a bit tough. I went through this twice with my own mother. Daddy had progressive, aggressive dementia. I'm really not sure which is worse. I know neither is easy, that's for sure. We're doing our best to stay positive and keep Rosemary healthy as possible but this last devastated us. Your prayers, shares, and donations will surely bless us and get us through this time.

Love to all and thanks so much for reading...and for caring!

Checking in to say hello from Rosemary, and to thank everyone for their donations and shares to-date. She is doing her best to stay positive and as healthy as possible, while we are trying to get her to chemotherapy. We're still not able to yet as we're having trouble getting Social Security and the State help paperwork finalized...on THEIR end! I have been fighting to get all Rosemary's information to the right people within their timelines. Unfortunately, the wheels have been grinding slowly.

I cannot refile her Medicare information (yes, I FINALLY got her emergency State aid for Medicare Part B), as Social Security and the State have not updated their computer portals. We're sitting on over $8,000 worth of bills waiting to re-file. Only one provider was decent enough to take the paper information. 3 providers flat out told me tough luck, call back when Soc. Sec. and the State have uploaded the numbers! Like *I* know when they will?? The rest...well it's been very nerve wracking staying on the phone holding or leaving messages for call backs from both the agencies and the providers! And doing this almost every single day. :(

Why can't people do what they say they will do? I feel so bad, thinking of all the people who are sick or in need, trying to do these things alone, with no one to help them. I am upset, angry, and frustrated, can you imagine how these unlucky souls would cope with this? My heart just goes out to all who are trying to deal with their illnesses totally by themselves!

Frustrated: we received a bill for services done in November, that was not even billed until the first part of December and not received until the day AFTER Christmas...and it was sent as a collection notice! Not a bill! Who does that??!!

Regardless, we are determined to get Rosemary to the final help she needs, to ensure her complete recovery! We're doing our best to keep her as healthy as we can, while we're waiting to get all this finalized, and get her to chemo. These problems are weighing us down. We have no idea exactly how much aid she will have to get the chemo done (since we can't get through on the phone), and it's really hitting us all pretty heavily. We were advised by the doctor that waiting *too* long might hurt Rosemary's chances at a full recovery, the cancer might come back, or a cell could possibly have escaped.

I'm asking our friends, relatives, and neighbors to please, please send Rosemary's GoFundMe link as far as it can be sent! If you know of any good Samaritan willing to help, or an organization, please send this to them. I've pretty much exhausted all our possibilities here for the time being, and right now it's totally in God's hands.

Your donations, words of encouragement, kindness, and love have meant so much to us, and we're so very grateful for EVERYTHING you all have done! You're all in our hearts and prayers.

Please continue to share Rosemary's story with others. If you have questions, please leave a message for me here on GoFundMe link, or through Facebook or Twitter.

Thank you!! God bless!!
