Clearwater Dominican Republic Mission - 2019

The 2019 Clearwater Deanery Mission project marks the 18th consecutive year in which churches from the Clearwater Deanery have sent teams and provided much needed financial support to the Dominican Episcopal Church and its programs to help the poor in many different communities all over the country.  The Clearwater Deanery will send its team to the Dominican Republic during the summer, from July 13-20.  The team will paint the interior of the new classrooms and the existing church and school, clean and seal the roof, and several other smaller projects including the painting and maintenance of the playground which was built in 2016. The estimated cost of the materials and Dominican labor for the 2019 Clearwater Deanery project is $45,000 which covers the cost of the materials used by the team, as well as the cost of completing the plumbing, electrical, windows, doors and protectors (burglar bars), getting the project ready for our team.  In addition to this gofundme campaign, missioners are asked to raise $1,800 each to fund construction costs, travel expenses, and living expenses using multiple fundraising means.  Since 100% of the funds collected are used for the project, no salaries or non-project expenses are funded and all donations are tax-deductible.

The Dominican Republic Episcopal Diocese really needs and appreciates this help from the Clearwater Deanery for completing this important project. The Diocese’s limited resources make the Clearwater support absolutely necessary to help this booming school.  Education of the youth of the Dominican Republic at the diocesan schools supplements the educational opportunities available through the public schools.  All students receive breakfast and lunch in addition to textbooks, educational resources and certified teachers.  Scholarships are available to help students whose families are unable to share the school expenses.  The good will of the deanery’s missioners, and those who will support them and the project, will have a major impact on the children, community and on the long-term growth of the Dominican Episcopal Church.
